First Day of School 

  • Tuesday, August 22, 8:30 a.m. - 1st - 8th Grade, dismissal 2:05 p.m. at the PGC, 2:21 p.m. UGC
  • Thursday, August 24, 8:30 a.m. - First Day for Little Angels Tuesday/Thursday students, PreK-3 5-day students, and all Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes.Half-day (including full day students) dismissal at 10:30 a.m. for Little Angels and 11:00 a.m. for PreK-3, Jr. Kindergarten, and Kindergarten. 
  • Friday, August 25, 8:30 a.m. - First Day for Little Angels and PreK-3 M-W-F students. Half-day for everyone dismissal at 10:30 a.m. for Little Angels and 11:00 a.m. for PreK-3, Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten. 

First Week of school notes for Early Elementary

Preschool & Kindergarten Classroom Preview Days will be held on August 22 & 23. You will receive communication on how to sign-up for a time slot from your teacher the week of August 14. 
Half-Day Schedule: All early childhood students (Little Angels - Kindergarten) will be on a half-day schedule from August 23 - 25, with dismissal at 11:00 a.m. (Little Angels at 10:30 a.m.)This includes students registered for the full-day program. 

The full-Day Program begins on Monday, August 28th.

Inter-Campus & Lake Bluff Bus Shuttle Service

Bus Service for the 2023-2024 School Year

Bus service will begin on Monday, August 28, 2023.
 
Morning Route: 
  • 8:15 a.m. Pick-up at the Grace United Methodist Church’s parking lot located on East Scranton Avenue in Lake Bluff
  • 8:25 a.m. Drop off Upper Grade Center students & pick up additional PGC students (east end of the Oakwood lot)
  • 8:50 a.m. Drop-off students at the Primary Grade Center
Afternoon Route:
  • 3:15 p.m. Pick-up students at Primary Grade Center
  • 3:40 p.m. Drop-off Lake Forest riders & pick up Lake Bluff riders at the Upper Grade Center
  • 3:50 p.m. Drop off Lake Bluff riders at the Grace United Methodist Church parking lot on East Scranton Avenue in Lake Bluff

Student Uniforms

Students are required to wear the designated school uniforms as described in the guidelines below. Please click on each campus below to review the uniform guidelines.

Frequently Asked Questions

PGC: Drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. and the first bell rings at 8:45 a.m. Regular dismissal is at 3:05 p.m.
UGC: Drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. and the first bell rings at 8:40 a.m. Regular dismissal is at 3:40 p.m.

Class assignments for the 2021-2022 school year will be released on August 13, 2021.

You may express a preference, but it may not be honored as we need to balance each classroom with different circumstances, including skill level, gender, and student temperament.

Parents can sign up for a shuttle between the PGC and UGC or for pickup in Lake Bluff. Please see the bus section above. 

Students at UGC have access to three microwaves during lunch. There are no microwaves available at PGC.

Little Angels (PreK-2) may wear training pants to school. However, if they become soiled, parents will need to come in to change them.

Edible birthday treats are not encouraged due to potential allergies in the classroom; items like pencils or stickers are a much safer choice. If you would like to send a treat for your child's birthday, the items must be individually wrapped, store-bought, in a sealed package. Homemade treats are never allowed.

No, we do not offer a summer camp. 

We do offer summer school. Summer 2022 information will be released sometime in January. 

Yes. SOSM offers summer skills books for sale. 
Children in grades K-7 will have summer reading and math practice assigned.

School directories come out in October. We can provide one from the previous year if one is needed before October.
