2023-2024 School Videos

  • Class of 2024 Clap-Out: A St. Mary's tradition for outgoing 8th graders. 
  • Class of 2024 Icons: These Saint Icons were all drawn and painted by the 8th graders as part of their confirmation preparation. They did all the work freehand - no stencils were used. 
  • 2023 Homecoming Pep Rally: A celebration of fall athletes and 8th graders on September 15th.

  • CSW: 8th Grade vs. Faculty Volleyball Game
    A Catholic School Week tradition at the School of St. Mary is for the 8th grade students to take on the faculty in a volleyball game. This year the faculty came out on top! 
  • CSW: Cereal Drive Dominos (PGC) 
    The School of St. Mary Service Project for Catholic Schools Week 2023 was Cereal Drive for the Moraine Township Food Pantry and Fill a Heart for Kids. Students donated cereal, and our STEAM teacher set up a dominion run to celebrate the achievement. In total, we collected almost 400 boxes of cereal! 
  • CSW: Destination Planet 1st Grade
    On Friday, we landed on Planet First Grade. First-grade parents traveled to the first grade and learned about the life and features of the planets their students created. Families then traveled to art to create a family rocket together. 
  • CSW: SOSM Mass at Church of St. Mary
    The School of St. Mary kicked off Catholic Schools Week with a student-led Mass at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary, Lake Forest. The combined Primary Grade Center and Upper Grade Center choirs performed, and it featured student readers and ushers. 
  • CSW: Choir Performance
    The PGC Choir, made up of 2nd and 3rd graders, performed the prelude music for our Catholic Schools Week Mass under the direction of Mrs. Amber Ferguson. 
  • Happy Thanksgiving from SOSM
    The School of St. Mary is grateful for so many things. Wishing everyone in our community a blessed Thanksgiving. Art from preschool-3rd grade at the Primary Grade Center, and 4th grade from the Upper Grade Center. Music: Thankful, by Jay Stocker, performed by the Primary Grade Center Choir (2nd & 3rd grader) under the direction of Amber Ferguson. 
  • First All School Mass
    SOSM's first Mass of the 2022-2023 school year was an All School Mass with the 1st - 8th grade students at the Church of St. Mary. 
  • August at SOSM
    The School of St. Mary kicks off the 2022-2023 school year with an ice cream social and some new faces. 
  • Welcome Back Ice Cream Social
    A back-to-school tradition, our Welcome Back Ice Cream Social. Hosted by SOSM Admissions and the Parents Association Family Welcoming Committee. Students get a chance to reconnect, enjoy ice cream and meet some teachers.

A SOSM Tradition! The students in grades K-2 line the gym with homemade signs to clap out the 3rd-grade class as they move up to the Upper Grade Center.

PGC Special Persons Day
We are so grateful to the PGC staff for its Special Persons Day event on Friday, April 29! There was a huge turnout, and the building was full of excitement and joy in sharing activities with these special people!
Crusader 5k Recap
The School of St. Mary Parents Association hosted their 2nd Annual Crusader 5K on April 23, 2022. We could not have planned a more beautiful day to be outside and support the Crusader Fund.
Emerging Artist at the School of St. Mary
Congratulations to our students whose artwork was sent in for the Emerging Artist Exhibit! School of St. Mary will be well represented on Sunday, April 24 at the Exhibit and recognized for receiving the Mayoral Award. Congratulations go to Anthony F., Katharina C., Hunter R., Bridget L., Maddie B., Haley H., and Emmy T. on receiving the Mayoral Award! The mayor will recognize them at the first City Council meeting in May!
The NCEA annual Lead. Learn. Proclaim. Awards recognize outstanding efforts, contributions, and achievements on behalf of Catholic school education. The School of St. Mary is proud to announce that Assistant Principal Kathy Thompson is one of the 2022 WINNERS! Congratulations Mrs. Thompson! A very special thank you goes to Mrs. Tornatorre for creating the submission video for us.
Crusader Chase Fun Run
The School of St. Mary Parents Association hosted their 2nd Annual Crusader Chase Fun Run on April 8. It was a fun day when students at both campuses were able to support the Crusader Fund. 
Faculty vs. Class of 2022 VB Game
A Crusader Tradition: The 8th-grade vs. Faculty Volleyball Game. It was a close one, but in the end, youth prevailed! Congratulations Class of 2022!

4th Grade Saints Project
Our 4th Grade students choose a Saint to research and present to their class every year.

    Art teacher Mrs. Bridget Halloran involves all the students (K-3) contributing parts of a larger artwork. This piece was inspired by our school year theme Strength for the Journey and featured a unique part made by one of our 2nd-grade artists.

  • Reimagined Christmas Carols
    Mrs. Hogan's 7th grade Language Arts Class studied Christmas Carols this December. They found all the figurative language and then swapped it out for their own, sometimes more modern, language.

  • Veterans Day 2021
    Donald Carter, WWII Army Veteran, came to speak to the 6-8th grade classes. His visit was highlighted on the WGN news.
  • Trunk or Treat 2021
    On October 15, the Parents Association of the School of St. Mary hosted a fall festival and trunk-or-treat in the school parking lot. Over 150 people spent a gorgeous evening having fun and getting to know the community. Special thanks to our chairs, Courtney Bott and Mairin Wilke for putting it all together!
  • September at the School of St. Mary
    The School of St. Mary had a busy September with the return of Sports and other student activities. 
  • The School of St. Mary celebrated our fall athletes and our 8th Graders with a Homecoming Pep Rally on September 24. Special thanks to the teachers, coaches, and parents that helped make this event a success.
