St. Mary's Golf League

We are also offering "League Options" for our students, managed by Mr. Byers and Mr. Stanwood. The league will be split into two divisions (league fees are TBD; they will not be more than$100 - Green Fees will not exceed $25 per week):

Competitive "Loyola"  League

Golfers in the Loyola division should know the rules of golf, complete nine holes in less than two hours, and carry their own bags. Generally, these players will be able to break 60 with the format below (9 Holes).

Players in the Loyola division will have adjusted tee boxes (250 yds (Par 5), 150 yds (Par 4), and closest of 100 yds or front tees  (Par 3). 6 Golfers Max per week

The "Loyola" players will play on the following courses - These dates and courses are TENTATIVE.

  • OLPH - Glenview Prairie Club - Monday, April 22
  • St. A's/SFX - Wilmette GC - Monday, April 29
  • FHC - TBD - Monday, May 6
  • SMLF - Onwentsia Club - Monday, May 13
  • Sacred Heart - TBD - Monday, May 20
  • CII-3A Glencoe GC - Monday, May 29

Beginner / Intermediate "Ignatius - North"

Golfers in the Ignatius division should be able to walk the course without adult supervision, complete 9 holes in about 2 hours, and carry their own bag. Generally, these players will not have competitive golf experience and should be excited to “get in the game”.  No previous score threshold applied.

Ignatius golfers will have adjusted tee boxes (250 yds (Par 5), 150 yds (Par 4), and closest of 100 yds or front tees. 10 Golfers Max per week

The "Ignatius - North" players will compete at 1-2 courses (Anetsberger and Prairie Club). Schedule is still being finalized.

Mr.Stanwood and I will place interested students into either the Loyola or Ignatius  division after a brief consultation with the player and a parent/guardian.

League players will be required to take a two-part online etiquette course, and should have their own set of clubs and appropriate golf attire (Collared shirts (tucked in) worn with pants or Bermuda length shorts are considered appropriate attire for boys. Collared shirts worn with skirts, Bermuda-length shorts, or pants are considered appropriate attire for girls. Tee shirts, shorts or skirts, shorter than 4" above the knee, blue jeans, or "cargo" type pants/shorts are not considered proper attire. Caps, if worn, must be bill forward.)

Athletes who would like to participate in both the practice and the league, should only sign up for Wednesday practice at Discover Golf.

League and School level Awards will be presented to Overall Individual, Ladies Individual and Team - We will review how points are awarded at our pre-season meeting.
