Spanish

According to research, "Cognitive advantages follow from becoming bilingual. These cognitive advantages can contribute to a child's future academic success". At the School of St. Mary, students have the opportunity to learn Spanish beginning in Kindergarten.

Spanish at the School of St. Mary is taught by Fun Fluency teachers. Fun Fluency uses a teaching system that creates an immersion experience for students while at the same time ensuring understanding. One of the main components of their methodology is TPRS: Teaching Proficiency Through Reading and Storytelling. Stories allow for tons of comprehension input, which prompts long-term retention and not just memorization.

The Fun Fluency teachers are native Spanish speakers and fluent/certified Spanish teachers. They teach Spanish using the best and research-proven methods, using as much Spanish as possible in class while ensuring understanding.
